What should a mom do once she realizes that God prohibits debt? Should she work part-time or full-time outside the home to help her husband eliminate it? No! Here’s what the Bible says:

“That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”(Titus 2:4-5)

When you study these verses in depth (and every woman should), you’ll learn that God commands wives to be homemakers. Therefore, you would be violating yet another commandment if you work outside the home to eliminate debt. The best way to work to eliminate debt would be to work from home. Scripture supports women being homemakers and home business owners in Proverbs 31:18. Your income from the business should go toward eliminating debt and saving. It should not usurp your husband’s role of providing for the family.
